Summer Break is almost upon us! Have you made your Canada Day Plans?
Only a few more weeks till school is out and kids and families around the Okanagan get time to get out and about in the beautiful place we call home. We live in such a diverse area full of history and opportunities for sightseeing in settings near lakes and the great outdoors and we are so blessed this year to have many local towns in our region hosting events.
The great thing about the Okanagan is the fact that there are truly four seasons and Summer brings us the much anticipated months of camping, boating, biking and enjoying the sun. We have an amazing number of provincial parks to explore, ski hills that turn into a mountain biker’s paradise and lakes that cater to all sorts of activities from peaceful fishing all way to the speed seekers on their boats and jet skis.
For the families who want a more academic day out to stimulate the brain cells, the Okanagan has a large selection of museums and art galleries and even the Science Center here in Vernon. O’keefe Ranch is another great option for families, as it not only showcases local history, but also has fun activities for the kids such as visiting the many farm animals.
This year is especially exciting as lots of events that were postponed the last few years are now back for 2022! Events such as Lumby Days in June, Vernon Ribfest in July and, of course, the IPE in Armstrong which is one of the final events before school starts again in the fall are now full speed.
With so much to keep everyone in the family busy, there should be lots of tired little ones eager to go to bed so the adults can enjoy the long summer evenings with BBQs and friends.
Whatever your plans may be…don’t forget to check out all the great events hosted by our local communities. Cheers to summer on the horizon!
